Lens manager Pierre Sage confirms Deiver Machado’s transfer to Nantes | OneFootball

RC Lens head coach Pierre Sage has confirmed that left-back Deiver Machado (32) was on his way out of the Artois side during his pre-game press conference. The Colombian full-back has entered the finals months of his Lens contract and is now expected to sign for Nantes as a joker transfer. Coincidentally, Les Canaris host the Ligue 1 leaders this Saturday.

“He’s about to leave, and I think our opponents this weekend know a thing or two about it“, cheekily said Sage to the media regarding Machado, who has fallen out of favour with Lens since they signed Matthieu Udol from FC Metz.

The former Lyon head coach said he didn’t expect to part ways with Machado this early in the season, but Sage and Lens had no intention to veto his departure, most notably because Machado intends to make Colombia’s squad for the World Cup. “The opportunity for him to get playing time to achieve a personal goal seemed important to us, so we’re not going against him.”
