Lens came from 2-0 down, playing 11 against 10, to beat Toulouse 3-2 on Friday. Matthieu Udol’s crossing constantly worried the visitors, while Rayan Fofana scarcely threatened.
Casseres struck in the sixth minute after Santiago Hidalgo’s press on Ismaëlo Ganiou, then Hidalgo headed the assist for Seny Koumbassa’s 13th-minute goal. Udol repeatedly delivered from the left and had three efforts on target before the interval, plus a lobbed header in first-half stoppage time. He also took a rake from Dönnum on his right Achilles that went unpunished on 33 minutes. According to L'Équipe, Udol earned seven out of 10.
Saint-Maximin replaced Wesley Saïd on 55 minutes and soon crossed for Abdulhamid to pull one back on 61. Thomasson levelled on 67 after Restes parried Sarr’s shot, then Ganiou rose to head the winner in added time.
Restes made 10 saves yet still conceded three, his parry for Thomasson’s equaliser might have been firmer and one second-half charge was loose. At the other end, Robin Risser endured a torrid night, culpable on both early goals, notably a major handling error for the opener. Koumbassa impressed at 18 with his headed finish.
Fofana was peripheral with only 13 touches before making way on 55, having scuffed a chance at 32. Saïd fashioned opportunities but lacked precision, and Restes denied him on 53. Saint-Maximin also went close on 84, while Édouard later missed a cut-back and a free-kick.
