Bordeaux met the CNOSF by videoconference on five August seeking clarity on their future. According to L'Équipe, the conciliator proposed a referral back to the DNCG appeals commission, so the Girondins’ fate remains unresolved.

Several clubs previously went to the CNOSF and were saved. The committee’s view is advisory, but the FFF usually follows it, with Sochaux in 2023 the outlier.

In 2002, Nice finished third in Division 2 yet faced demotion to National. The city and five investors injected funds and, after a five July hearing in Lyon with 250 supporters present, promotion was cleared two weeks later. They then finished 10th in Ligue 1.

In 2014, Lens were denied by the DNCG, before a favourable CNOSF opinion allowed them into Ligue 1.

Amnéville suffered financial sanctions, dropping to the fifth tier then Regional 1 by 2015. Under new president François Ventrici they cut debts and won R1 in 2017, but promotion was refused. After four R1 matches, a 19 September CNOSF opinion saw the FFF reinstate them in N2.

In 2023, Sochaux’s deficit of between 19 and 22 million euros led the DNCG to send them to the National, now called Ligue 3. Their CNOSF appeal drew a negative opinion, yet the FFF placed them in the National on 17 August.

Bordeaux also faced the CNOSF in 2022, when sporting relegation to Ligue 2 was followed by an administrative drop to the third tier, before the FFF backed conciliation and kept them in L2.
