Following a right thigh injury sustained on 30 May against Coritiba, Léo Ortiz is fully fit again and established in Flamengo’s starting side under Leonardo Jardim.
According to Coluna Do Fla, he used the World Cup window to intensify his rehabilitation, cutting short his break to resume treatment at Ninho do Urubu. With the squad initially on holiday, he returned early to the training centre.
He also asked to join the Algarve training camp in Portugal during the mid-season period, even though he was not yet ready to play. The aim was to accelerate his return.
He was named in the squad against Internacional on 29 July, but stayed on the bench. He then started versus Vitória and has kept his place, only missing the rout of Mirassol when Jardim chose to rest players.
Ortiz continues extra work both at the training ground and at home with staff, maintaining activation and physiotherapy routines even on away trips. The focus is to remain in peak condition.
Flamengo now have another FIFA break. They are due back on eight October to face Santos at Vila Belmiro, kick-off 19:30 Brasília time, with Premiere broadcasting the match.
