Leon Goretzka agrees to join Aston Villa | OneFootball

Aston Villa have agreed to sign 31-year-old German midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer, according to journalist Matteo Moretto. What remains is the signing of documents and a medical, which is set to take place next week, according to the report. Villa manager Unai Emery sees Goretzka as the ideal signing for the midfield, as he will bring in leadership and experience to the side. Goretzka is set to become a replacement for Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana, who sustained an ACL injury playing for his country against the USA at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Goretzka’s contract with Bayern Munich, where he spent eight seasons, ended at the conclusion of last season. After representing Germany at the World Cup, he was being linked with several clubs. It is now certain that he will be playing in the English Premier League for Villa, having spent a long part of his career playing in the Bundesliga, first for Schalke and then for Bayern.
