Aston Villa in talks to sign former Bayern midfielder Goretzka

Having left Bayern Munich after his contract expired at the end of last season, Leon Goretzka could now be heading to the Premier League.

Aston Villa are exploring a move for the central midfielder, according to multiple sources, including talkSPORT, the Daily Mail and transfer journalist Matteo Moretto.

The Premier League side were previously looking to sign Goretzka’s former Bayern teammate João Palhinha, but the Portuguese midfielder now appears to be heading to Benfica instead.

Goretzka, 31, made 312 appearances for Bayern between 2018 and 2026, scoring 51 goals and providing 53 assists.

He has also made 73 appearances for the German national team.
