Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci touched upon the rumors that linked him with a move to Roma in January.
During this time, Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club and the Special One had requested an additional defender.
The Portuguese technician had indicated Bonucci was who looking for a way out of Union Berlin.
Talks with Bonucci eventually collapsed, leading Roma to focus on Dean Huijsen instead.
In an interview with Passa dal Bstm Podcast, Bonucci explained, “Last year the move to Roma fell through because the fans said: “No, you can’t have a Juventus player wearing a Roma shirt.”
“I have always been a Juventus fan, but when I go on the pitch I play for the shirt I wear. If I play against Juventus do I step back or don’t I give everything? No, we are professionals, we do things for the team.”
