Lepaul's stoppage-time penalty lifts Rennes into top four | OneFootball

Rennes edged Le Mans 3-2 at Roazhon Park, climbing from eighth to fourth as Estéban Lepaul settled the game with a stoppage time penalty.

In the fifth minute, Estéban Lepaul opened the scoring from the centre of the box after Adrien Thomasson's pass.

Valentin Rongier then drove in from outside the area (26.), before Louis Mafouta halved the deficit from close range via Lucas Calodat's cross (30.).

A handball by Przemysław Frankowski led to a penalty (51.). VAR confirmed the spot kick, and Mafouta converted (54.).

Djibril Sidibe was sent off for Le Mans (68.). Moments later, goalkeeper Nicolas Kocik was forced off injured and replaced by Ewan Hatfout (81.).

A handball by Noa Boissé was penalised in the second minute of second half stoppage time. VAR confirmed the spot kick, and Lepaul converted in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time.

Rennes registered 22 attempts and controlled 64% possession. Lepaul is now top of the Ligue 1 scoring chart with three goals.
