Then the waiting game for the next.

A nice relaxed summer…of endless transfer window torture!

Newcastle United fans with the latest collection of opinions below.

Contributions are sometimes too brief to make up into a full article and so we have gathered up a number of recent  views sent in, (if you would like to send anything in, long or short, regarding Newcastle United, then contribute@themag.co.uk is the place):

Dear Mag,

I saw the recent article on members success in ballots (Article titled ‘Club dispute one in six success rate for Newcastle United members in home ticket ballots’).

I entered every ballot last season bar one and I wasn’t successful even once.

I did get to some games but that was due to going on the booking site 2 hours before kick off.

The ballot is a disgrace and needs to be fair to all members

Dear Mag,

What are they playing at???

Newcastle United getting left way behind yet again.

The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City all signing loads of players.

Yet at St James’ Park only some Spanish 18 year old, one for the future, unless he is sold…

Dear Mag,

In case its of interest, I wanted to share some details about tomorrow’s U21 Euros semi-final, which will see England compete against The Netherlands for a place in the final, to defend their title.

Viewers can watch the match live and free on Channel 4 from 4:40pm, with kick off at 5pm. Jules Breach, Joe Cole and Jermain Defoe will present live coverage from the National Stadium in Bratislava.

Later in the evening, live on 4seven from 7:50pm, Germany and France will also compete for their place in the final.

Best wishes,

Imogen – Channel 4

Dear Mag,

The tour to Seoul for the Coupang games, do you have any idea if a local travel company will be arranging flights/hotels /tickets for the 2 games being played in S. Korea?

Neil

(ED: If anybody knows of a travel company putting on something along these lines, please mention it in the comments section below)

Dear Mag,

Newcastle’s buying scheme is now clear.

Buy the best youth players out there. Keep costs down. Loan some out. Hope for a couple of golden nuggets. Challenge Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man Utd in this area.

Notice too, that in days of yore, when Man Utd were allowed to monopolise this strategy, they unearthed many fine players – many English, Welsh, Scot and Irish stars. This was ended when a distance to travel to the club, and number limitations of youngsters were set by the FA.

I like this strategy. Why?

Many top flight, proven players cost an exorbitant amount of money.

I do query the real motive when top clubs let allegedly good players go for reasonable money.

It’s usually because of six key reasons, some of which we must avoid

a/ the selling club needs the cash – post relegation. Good reason. b/ the player is prone to injury, has prior history, unexplained missed games. c/ a bad apple in the changing room – plenty of these – easily spotted. d/ wife and family unsettled. e/ player thinks he can obtain a much better salary elsewhere than he is currently on. f/ they want glory, cup success.

With decent due diligence, NUFC should do ok.

Youthful players with mature heads are the way to go for me. Keeping them injury free is essential though. Can be done. Hard.

Eddie and the crew seems good at this essential skill.

I see us buying 2-3 okayish types, nobody stunning.

Anyway, fingers, toes well crossed.

May the Due Diligence Gods be smiling

Howay the lads. Victor

Dear Mag,

If these protesters are so concerned about wild life (Article titled ‘New Newcastle United stadium – Protestors demand referendum vote on whether goes ahead’)…

Why don’t they all take some slugs, snails, rats or whatever home to look after them till the new green spaces are finished?

That would show real commitment to their cause while enabling the Magpie count to expand.

Regards Old Joe

Dear Mag,

I always look forward to fixtures coming out, then Sky rip everything apart.

I work on Sundays and Fridays, getting time off is awkward, I do put holidays in for time off.

I really do miss a normal Saturday 3pm kick off but those days are long gone.

Supporting Newcastle is my life, going to the home matches is my happy place.

Dear Mag,

Some of the bed wetters are beyond belief.

I feel embarrassed for them, crying on every single day because Newcastle haven’t signed anybody.

Short memories.

Have they already forgotten the brilliant season we just experienced?

Have they forgotten that when Eddie Howe and NUFC spend a decent amount of cash, they don’t get duds, they get quality.

Honestly, some fans would be happy if United bought literally anybody, just so long as some money was spent, even if they hadn’t heard of the player, never mind see them play!!

Dear Mag,

I have been in the Membership Ballot for over 3 years and not got one ticket.

So I have reluctantly stopped my Membership, the club responded to me and suggested going through another route.

The club saying ‘We recommend utilising the Mags Member General Sale for another opportunity to obtain tickets if unsuccessful in the ballots entered.’
