Levante have confirmed the signing of Algeria international Aïssa Mandi on a contract running to June 2028. He will undergo a medical then begin training under Luís Castro in the coming days.

According to Superdeporte, he arrives on a free to reinforce a back line that includes Dela, Elgezabal and Jorge Cabello, recently back from a loan at Mirandés.

Mandi came through at Stade de Reims, joining Real Betis in 2016. He played 173 games across five seasons and featured in the Europa League during his time in Seville.

In 2021 he moved to Villarreal for three seasons, appeared in the UEFA Super Cup and made his Champions League debut. Across Betis and Villarreal he amassed 252 matches before concluding his spell in Spain.

He returned to France in summer 2024 with LOSC Lille. Over two campaigns he was a regular starter, playing six Champions League matches in 2024-25 and 11 in the Europa League as Lille reached the round of 16.

For Algeria, the centre-back has played at six Africa Cup of Nations, lifting the trophy in 2019. He has also featured at two World Cups, Brazil 2014 and the United States, Mexico and Canada in 2026.

Levante’s rebuild at the back continues, and Mandi is expected to add stability. The club’s announcement prompted a wave of celebratory messages from supporters.
