Levante and the National Police have identified supporters who threw bottles at Eray Cömert after Sunday’s derby at the Ciutat de Valencia, following LaLiga’s updated incident report.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, several home fans have been identified, including an alleged thrower whose bottle struck the Valencia defender in the face as he left the pitch for the tunnel.
The annex to LaLiga’s report details that Cömert moved towards the Valencia section, took a corner flag, draped his black-and-white shirt over it and waved it, which the report says provoked a tense situation. Police and stewards then intervened to restore calm.
That analysis leaves Levante facing possible punishment and could also expose the Swiss player to a sanction.
The club displayed anti-violence and anti-abuse messages on the big screens throughout the match and after a chant in the 94th minute.
The RFEF Disciplinary Committee gave three-match bans to Kervin Arriaga and Vicente Iborra, both dismissed by referee Miguel Ortiz. There has been no fine, sanction or stadium closure relating to the incidents in the stands. Officials did not record the post-match fracas because they did not wait for all 22 players to leave.
The file is now with RFEF committees and the Anti-Violence Commission, so Cömert could yet be punished. In past cases, players such as Vinícius and Sergio Ballesteros were not sanctioned for provocative gestures towards Valencia supporters.
Cömert, captain César Tárrega and head coach Carlos Corberán have apologised for the corner-flag incident.
