Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes responded to Malik Tillman’s revealing interview. The US international criticized ex-coach Kasper Hjulmand and Leverkusen’s fans on his return to the club after a post-World Cup vacation.
The 24-year-old midfielder also shared his disappointment about the lack of communication from Leverkusen’s leadership as he doesn’t feel their support yet. “During the World Cup, there was no communication. I didn’t expect a message or a call every day. But, every now and then, I would have liked to read beautiful messages." the 24-year-old told “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”.
Rolfes has now responded to Tillman’s statements in an interview with the same platform. “He didn't talk to me about it. For me, if someone does not like something, it’s important that he should talk to the one with whom he does not like it. He didn't do that,” Rolfes told “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”.
"If someone has something serious, he has to talk to me or Fernando Carro,” added the former midfielder in response to the situation. Tillman is under contract at Leverkusen until 2030, but he left his future open in the said interview. "In the end, it will become clear soon whether I stay or not," said the scorer of two direct free-kicks at the World Cup.
