LFP confirms Le Mans’ 2-0 win at Bastia and promotion to Ligue 1

The LFP has confirmed Le Mans’ 2-0 win at Bastia, sealing the Sarthe club’s promotion to Ligue 1 after Saturday’s abandoned match.

According to Le Progres, the league’s disciplinary commission validated the result on Wednesday. The fixture, the 34th and final round of Ligue 2, was halted at the Armand-Cesari stadium when flares were thrown onto the pitch.

The referee ended the game shortly after Le Mans scored their second at the start of added time. The original scoreline therefore stands.

Bastia have been sanctioned with two home matches behind closed doors and a further one suspended. The Corsican club have also been relegated to the third tier.

The decision finalises the Ligue 2 standings with Le Mans credited with the victory.
