Liam Rosenior was clearly very frustrated in his post-match press conference, but he refused to blame an individual.

Chelsea have just drawn with Burnley, the second time in two weeks they’ve dropped points from a winning position.

The Blues made it all the way to extra time at 1-0, but conceded from a corner right at the death. It was very frustrating, and manager Liam Rosenior was steaming in the post match press conference. As always, he tried to take as much of the blame as he could on himself, but even he couldn’t resist noting it was an individual error which cost his side.

“An assignment was missed,” the manager said when asked what had happened to leave Burnley goalscorer Zian Flemming free in the box.

“An assignment, a marking assignment wasn’t done. Flemming, we know, is their best header of the ball. And there was a player who I won’t [name], I’m not here to throw players under the bus, I will always protect my players, I will deal with it in the week. There was a player we assigned that duty who marked the wrong player.”

Ouch. We can imagine that player is feeling the pain right now. If only it was a one off. Sadly our record defending set pieces this season is abysmal, and that precedes Rosenior’s appointment.

In other news…

There are some truly haunting stats doing the round for the Blues at the moment, chiefly around their red cards and points dropped.

Cole Palmer played 74 minutes today and was heavily involved – but he wasn’t decisive in front of goal, when he usually makes the difference.
