Liga F match-day 1 results: Two goals and a red for Felicia Schröder in eventful Madrid derby | OneFootball

Real Madrid kicked off the Liga F season with a 3-2 victory against rivals Atlético Madrid.

Meanwhile, Barcelona started the title defence with a dominant 5-0 win at home to Costa Adeje Tenerife. Here’s how the action unfolded in Spain.

Schröder’s action-packed Liga F debut

Felicia Schröder experienced an eventful Liga F debut, scoring a brace before being sent off in Saturday’s Madrid derby at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano. Lotte Keukelaar created Schröder’s eight-minute opener, spinning away from a challenge to slide the ball across for the 19-year-old to poke home. Minutes later, Sandie Toletti doubled the home side’s lead with an Olimpico, as her deep corner looped over Lola Gallardo and swung into the far corner. 

The fans in attendance were then treated to a thrilling end to the first period that yielded three goals in 11 minutes. Atleti’s Synne Jensen scored either side of Schröder, completing her brace, with the Norwegian rifling home her second from the edge of the box. 

That ultimately proved to be the end of the scoring, but not the drama. Schröder’s debut was brought to a premature end when she was dismissed for kicking out at Rosa Otermín inside the opening 10 minutes of the second period. Gio Garbelini soon followed the Swedish star down the tunnel for a similar offence, ensuring the contest finished with 10 players aside.

Barcelona hit five past Tenerife

Barcelona are entering a new era following the departure of several high profile players in the summer. Alexia Putellas and Mapi León swapped Barcelona for London City Lionesses, Ona Batlle joined Arsenal on a free transfer, and Salma Paralluelo completed a move to OL Lyonnes.

The Blaugrana have made four new additions of their own, including the arrival of centre-back Renee van Asten, who scored the fourth goal in Sunday’s comfortable 5-0 win over Tenerife.

Caroline Graham Hansen opened the scoring and Clàudia Pina netted a brace prior to Van Asten’s debut goal. Pina’s first effort was undoubtedly the strike of the match. The forward fired a low, long-range strike beyond the goalkeeper after being given the space to turn and shoot. Experienced defender Irene Paredes wrapped up the scoring with a downward header from a deep corner.

Athletic Club dispatch Badalona

Athletic Club fought back from a goal down to take three points from their opener against Badalona. Clara Pinedo conjured up a dipping shot from distance to cancel out Irina Uribe’s opener in Lezama. After going into the break on level terms, Athletic turned the game in their favour in the 72nd minute when an underhit backpass opened the door for Ane Azkona to squeeze the ball in from a narrow angle. Jone Amezaga then made sure of the three points, lifting a bouncing ball over the goalkeeper to condemn Badalona to a 3-1 defeat.

Two newly-promoted sides face off

Deportivo Alavés got the better of Valencia in Sunday’s clash between the two newly-promoted sides at Mendizorroza. Summer signing Kumba Zainab Brima opened the scoring midway through the first period. Brima drove a low shot in at the near post to mark her Alavés debut with a goal. The hosts doubled their advantage in the 68th minute when Valencia lost possession with the majority of their side up the pitch. That created the space for Ainhoa Guallar to race into the Valencia half before producing a stunning lob from distance to beat the stranded Alice Pinguet. 

Real Sociedad disappoint against Logroño

Real Sociedad started the Liga F season on the back of a tumultuous few days. La Real lost 5-2 away to Chelsea in the first leg of their Women’s Champions League qualifying tie before seeing their coach Arturo Ruiz leave for Women’s Super League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

Unfortunately for La Real, matters did not get better in Saturday’s home clash with Logroño United, who emerged victorious in their first competitive game since rebranding from DUX Logroño. Flavine Mawete broke the deadlock with a far-post finish in the 76th minute. Mawete’s fellow substitute, Cristina Redondo, added a second in stoppage time to wrap up all three points.

Madrid CFF ease to comfortable win

Madrid CFF started the new season with a 3-1 success against Granada. Sakina Ouzraoui Diki and Kate Taylor both found the net in the first period at the Estadio Fernando Torres. Substitute Ailing Herrera added to the lead in the 75th minute, just a minute after she entered the pitch for her Liga F debut. The only frustration for the hosts was the fact they were denied a clean sheet by Elene Guridi’s late consolation.

Sevilla, Eibar start with clean sheets

Sevilla’s Fatou Kanteh scored the decisive goal in the away clash with Deportivo de A Coruña. The forward steered a header home from Laura Pérez’s inviting cross inside the opening 15 minutes. At the opposite end of the pitch, Esther Sullastres made three stops during the contest, including a smart reaction save to thwart Floriangel Apóstol. 

Like Sevilla, Eibar also started the new season with a narrow 1-0 victory. The contest looked set to end goalless until Alimata Bélem netted a 91st-minute winner. The Burkina Faso international blasted the ball home from close range after Meri Muñoz failed to gather a near-post corner.

Best goal of Liga F match-day 1

Pinedo’s effort gets our pick out of plenty of impressive goals from the weekend. The goal was made by Maite Valero’s first-time flick from a throw-in, inviting Pineda to rifle a powerful shot past María Valenzuela.
