Moroccan veteran Youssef El-Arabi (38 years old) enabled Nantes to snatch a 2-2 draw against Rennes on Saturday, during the fifth round of Ligue 1, by scoring a stunning goal in stoppage time (96').Thanks to this result, Nantes now has 4 points and sits in 13th place, while Rennes totals 8 points and ranks sixth.
El-Arabi netted his 17th Ligue 1 goal, more than 14 years after his previous one, setting a new record for the longest gap between two goals in French league history: 14 years and 142 days.According to the statistical network Opta, he surpasses the previous record held by defender Patrice Evra (14 years and 46 days) and midfielder Francis Coquelin (14 years and 31 days), earning his place among the Ligue 1 legends since the 1947-1948 season.Arriving at Nantes this summer from Apoel Nicosia on a free transfer, El-Arabi proves he can still make a difference, even in the twilight years of his professional career.
