Ligue 1+, now the sole broadcaster of every Ligue 1 match after beIN Sports’ exit, will allow near-live highlights to remain on its social channels indefinitely.

Jérôme Cazadieu, the channel’s editorial director, said on Wednesday that last season they were required to remove a number of social posts after matches, a restriction that will not apply this season, so clips can stay up for longer.

The change takes effect from Friday’s season opener, OM-Strasbourg. The pre and post-match programme for the Sunday night showcase, Le Club, will also be available free-to-air.

Previously, deletions a few hours after full time were linked to contracts from the DAZN deal, later taken on by Ligue 1+, and to beIN Sports.

The league-run channel averaged 1.1 million subscribers in its first year. It aims to accelerate customer growth, though it has not disclosed targets.
