The Ligue Méditerranée de football has scrapped its plan for a regional training centre at Ventabren after four years of procedures, studies and technical costs.
L'Équipe reports that the decision appears on page 4 of minutes from the executive board meeting on 25 August.
In a section headed "Point Campus", the body recorded that it would cease investigations and steps concerning the Ventabren land, concentrating efforts on a new land and property opportunity identified in recent weeks.
The project, styled as a southern Clairefontaine and driven by president Eric Borghini, was earmarked for an eight-hectare rocky brownfield in Ventabren, in Bouches-du-Rhône, west of Aix-en-Provence.
Attention now turns to securing an alternative site, with the league prioritising the opportunity it has identified in recent weeks.
