Lille ‘interested in’ Monaco’s €25m-rated forward George Ilenikhena

Lille have shown interest in AS Monaco forward George Ilenikhena, who is valued at €25m, according to RMC Sport.

The 19-year-old has had a bit-part role this season, with 20 appearances and four goals. He has not started in the UEFA Champions League and has begun only three Ligue 1 matches.

Monaco need to sell a player before July to avoid being at risk of UEFA sanctions. In that context, Lille have emerged as a suitor.

Les Dogues are seeking a striker after Hamza Igamane suffered an ACL injury at the Africa Cup of Nations, leaving Olivier Giroud as their only recognisable centre-forward.

Monaco’s price could deter a move, with that valuation likely to complicate any deal. Lille also have other attacking options under consideration.
