Lille’s Alexsandro to undergo surgery | OneFootball

It has been a difficult season for Alexsandro (26), who has now been forced to undergo surgery on a quadriceps injury.

Alexsandro had just made his break into the Brazil squad. He was part of the Selecao in September. Upon his return to Lille OSC, Bruno Genesio alluded to risk in playing the defender, who had just participated in a game at high altitude in South America just days earlier. The risk was taken, but Alexsandro was injured.

That injury happened on 14th September, and he has yet to play since. The Brazilian returned to training briefly last week but then suffered a setback. Genesio said last week that the club would soon communicate Alexsandro’s situation.

On Friday, Lille confirmed that their centre-back would be undergoing surgery on the quadriceps injury. That bout of surgery will happen in the coming days, LOSC confirmed. A timeline for his return has not been provided. That will come only after the surgery.
