Samuel Lino has matched his 2025 Flamengo goal tally after only 15 appearances in 2026, a bright start under head coach Leonardo Jardim.

Last season the left winger needed 31 games to reach four goals. This year he has four in 15, plus four assists compared with five in 2025. As reported by Globo.com, his surge has been a feature of Jardim’s early weeks.

Of his 15 outings, Lino has started seven. Since Jardim took charge he has begun three of four matches, delivering two goals and one assist in that span.

He said he is pleased to be helping the team, that dips after a trophy-laden year and a slow start were normal, and that things would fall into place. He added Flamengo are on a good path and must keep going.

Jardim has moved the forwards closer to goal and left the flanks to the full backs, pushing Lino inside. His well worked strike in Thursday’s win over Remo came after exchanges with Pedro then Luiz Araújo before a deflected shot from the edge of the box.

The coach said the idea is collective, with wingers such as Araújo, Cebolinha, Paquetá, Plata and Carrascal asked to fill the area rather than leave it to the striker. He noted Lino is reading it well and that Araújo profited by being in the box to finish a rebound.

Lino was Flamengo’s standout in the 3-0 win, finding Pedro and Arrascaeta with incisive passes and testing the keeper before the interval. He scored soon after half-time, then fed the move for the third as Pedro set up Araújo.

The result moved Flamengo to 13 points in fourth place with a game in hand against Mirassol. They visit Corinthians on Sunday at 20:30 in round eight.
