Lionel Adams found dead on outskirts of Moscow | OneFootball

Lionel Adams has been found dead on the outskirts of Moscow, reports say. He was 30.

A police source told TASS that his body was discovered beside a residential building in the Moscow region. The Telegram channel Shot claimed he may have taken his own life due to unrequited love, a version his mother disputed via local media, saying he did not have a partner.

The death comes weeks after Adams was hospitalised following a violent incident in Zvenigorod. On December 27, he was reportedly beaten and shot in the hip near a restaurant during an altercation involving around 10 people. He later discharged himself from hospital.

Born in 1994 to a Nigerian father and a Russian mother, Adams progressed through CSKA Moscow’s youth system from 2012 to 2014. He later spent a season in Spain with Cerceda in 2017.

During his professional career, he also played for Yenisei, Volga and Kamaz. The building where his body was found was near the home of fellow footballer Timur Magomedov, a goalkeeper for Dinamo Makhachkala.
