In the 30th edition of TBT LION MEMORY, we will remember GERCINO, scorer of Avaí’s winning goal in the first derby at Scarpelli.

Gercino Lopes, or simply Gercino, was born in Florianópolis on May 4, 1941, and passed away in 1989 at the age of 48. He played for Avaí as a center-back and full-back from 1958 to 1962 and from 1963 to 1964. He made 120 appearances and scored three goals. He is part of Avaí’s history for scoring Avaí’s only goal in the victory over Figueirense in the first derby after the inauguration of Orlando Scarpelli Stadium. The official inauguration took place on June 12, 1960.

The first derby between Figueirense and Avaí at Scarpelli was played on September 17, 1961, in a friendly match that ended with a 1-0 win for Avaí, with a goal by Gercino.
