According to Glorioso 1904, lip-reading specialist Gustavo Machado has outlined what Vinicius Jr is said to have told Gianluca Prestianni during Benfica v Real Madrid, detailing exchanges that came before his report of alleged racist abuse.

After scoring the game’s only goal, the Real Madrid forward allegedly used an expletive towards referee François Letexier, then challenged the decision to show him a yellow card.

The sequence then moves to a flashpoint with Prestianni. Vinicius Jr is said to have told the Argentine to be quiet while using further insults, before informing Letexier that the Benfica player had called him a monkey. He repeated that claim to Nicolás Otamendi.

He also complained that he knew what had been said and that he had been booked while the other player had not.

Referee Letexier then activated the anti-racism protocol, pausing the Champions League match for 10 minutes before play resumed.
