Good evening everyone, welcome back to coverage of the German national team's journey in the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. Tonight, Jürgen Klopp's DFB-Team (0-1-1) will look for their first victory in the League A campaign against Serbia (0-0-2) at Allianz Arena. Updates to come here over the next 2 hours.

Since Serbia started UEFA competition in its current form, they are 1-1-1 against Germany - with a 1-2 loss in a 2008 international friendly, a 1-0 win in the group stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, and a 1-1 draw in an international friendly in 2019. Luka Jović, who scored the lone goal in the latter meeting, is starting as one of the two strikers alongside the nation's most-capped player and captain, Dušan Tadić.

18:41

The two sides are out of the tunnel and onto the field at Allianz Arena. "Bože pravde" („Боже правде“) will play first over the loudspeakers, followed by "Deutschlandlied". Then, the coin toss and kickoff as the match gets underway.

18:47

Simo Frigolé

1': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

And away we go in a crucial Nations League clash! Serbia, in blue, kick off the match and will go right to left in the opening term. Germany, in white, will go left to right when on the attack.

18:50

Simo Frigolé

2': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Serge Gnabry takes a pass into the right side of the Serbian third from Derry Scherhant. He notices Florian Wirtz darting into open space close to the goal area and knocks the ball his way, past Stefan Džodić - but Wirtz slightly mistimes his run and can only tap it with the tip of his left boot as it skips to Đorđe Petrović.

18:53

Simo Frigolé

4': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Maximilian Mittelstädt goes for a right-footed shot from distance, but the VfB Stuttgart left-back does not test Petrović too much - blasting the ball well over the top-left corner and out.

18:55

Simo Frigolé

6': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Mittelstädt finds Derry Scherhant on the right side of the box with a cross from the left side of the Serbian third; the SC Freiburg striker knocks the ball down before playing it back to Aleksandar Pavlović, who sends a powerful right-footed shot just wide of the bottom-right corner.

18:59

Simo Frigolé

9': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Pavlović himself has a past of playing for the Serbian youth national teams; he was called up to a series of friendlies with the U18 national team in 2021, before ultimately making a switch to Germany at the U20 level. This is his sixteenth appearance for Germany at the international level, and it comes in his hometown, at the home venue of the one club he has played his whole career with - FC Bayern.

19:02

Simo Frigolé

12': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Scherhant crosses the ball into the centre of the box from the left side, and Woltemade has a free header - but misses metres wide to the left. Of all the chances that Germany has had so far, that has been the best of them - with not much happening in their own half, the hosts are controlling the pace of play at the moment.

19:03

Simo Frigolé

15': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Tom Bischof threads the ball to Woltemade inside the box, but his attempt towards the bottom-right corner is deflected away by Džodić. The following corner ultimately lands at the feet of Waldemar Anton, but his left-footed volley is hit well out to the left for a goal kick to the Serbs.

19:07

Simo Frigolé

18': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Bischof attempts a cross into the centre of the box, but Džodić deflects it away for a corner to the hosts. The following corner is played short, eventually meeting Mittelstädt for a far-post cross, but no one can reach it in time and the visitors will regroup from here.

19:10

Simo Frigolé

20': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Bischof sends a long pass into the left side of the Serbian half. Scherhant battles with Strahinja Eraković for possession, but the latter is able to knock it away for a throw with a well-timed sliding tackle.

19:13

Simo Frigolé

23': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Greece has taken the lead against the Netherlands in Thessaloniki, off the boot of Fotis Ioannidis in the twenty-third minute. At the moment, they are 3-0-0 and are leading this group, with just one point needed from their remaining three matches to secure a quarterfinal place if this result holds. At the moment: Greece (9), Netherlands (4), Germany (2), Serbia (1).

19:15

Simo Frigolé

26': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Philipp Treu punts the ball from the centre of the ground, into the left side of the Serbian third. Scherhant beats out Nedeljković in a footrace, but the latter is able to send the former off the ball with a standing tackle.

19:18

Simo Frigolé

28': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Wirtz knocks the ball into the centre of the box to Woltemade, who evades Nemanja Gudelj by passing the ball to his right to Gnabry. The captain attempts to lift the ball above Petrović, but the AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper blocks it with his chest and sends the ball back out of the box. Pavlović follows with an overhit attempt over the bar.

19:20

Simo Frigolé

31': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Germany get a very lucky break on an unlucky, rare counterattack. With the entire back line forward, Nedeljković spots the defensive error and threads the ball to the left side of the midfield to Kostić, who darts into a 2v1 onside run. He has Dušan Tadić with him, eventually playing the ball short inside the goal area - but the latter's run is a bit too late and he misses the sliding attempt to tap it in.

19:24

Simo Frigolé

36': GERMANY 0-0 SERBIA

Wirtz nearly gets on the end of a cross into the centre of the box, but Eraković reads it well and makes a perfectly-timed headed clearance.

19:29

Simo Frigolé

39': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR (T. Bischof - assist: F. Wirtz)

Pavlović sets up Wirtz, who weaves his way around Nemanja Maksimović, Nemanja Gudelj, and Srđan Babić on the right side of the box. His initial tap goalwards hits the left post, but the rebound lands to an open Bischof, who jams it in! They have been waiting for that one for a while, and now Jürgen Klopp's side are off and running at the Allianz Arena!

19:30

Simo Frigolé

41': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

Nearly a second just moments after the opener: Gnabry crosses the ball into the box, Gudelj's clearance is not far enough, and it lands in front of Pavlović, who powers a shot that would have gone just under the crossbar if not for the hands of a leaping Petrović to steer it away.

19:32

Simo Frigolé

43': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

So, with that, the live table updates - Germany are now tied for second on points with the Netherlands with an identical goal differential, but due to goals scored, the Dutch hold the advantage (3-3 to 2-2). It stands: Greece (9), Netherlands (4), Germany (4), Serbia (0).

19:33

Simo Frigolé

45+1': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

Only one minute will be added to the first half in München.

19:35

Simo Frigolé

HT: GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

Norwegian official Espen Eskås calls time on the first half, with Germany going into the break leading Serbia by a goal to none; Tom Bischof with the goal, assisted by Florian Wirtz in the fortieth minute.

And we do have some news from Thessaloniki: Greece has doubled their lead against the Dutch, moving Germany up to second in the group on goal differential. This one is from Giorgos Masouras, assisted by Fotis Ioannidis; Greece are on the verge of what would be a second consecutive upset. Live table: Greece (9), Germany (4), Netherlands (4), Serbia (0).

19:39

Simo Frigolé

HT: GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

Scores elsewhere in the UEFA Nations League:

League A, Group 2: Germany 1-0 Serbia (Bischof 40). Greece 2-0 Netherlands (Ioannidis 23, Masouras 45+2).

League A, Group 4: Denmark 1-2 Portugal (Damsgaard 23; Cancelo 13, Ramos 25). Wales 1-1 Norway (James 38; Bobb 11).

League B, Group 3: Republic of Ireland 2-0 Austria (Parrott 12, 45+1P). Israel 0-0 Kosovo.

League D, Group 1: Malta 0-0 Gibraltar.

League D, Group 2: Azerbaijan 0-0 Liechtenstein (FULL-TIME).

19:44

Simo Frigolé

HT: GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

If Tom Bischof continues to perform like this, then it can be said that he has left a good first impression in Jürgen Klopp's Germany squad for what is just his second senior appearance. Just five days after playing in a U21 international friendly against Latvia, he currently holds a pass accuracy of 92 % (33 / 36), 1 / 1 on ground duels, 1 / 2 on aerial duels, and he holds what would currently be the winning goal tonight.

19:47

Simo Frigolé

HT: GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

This has been, in all ways, a statistical mismatch: Germany have outshot Serbia 16-0, 5-0 on target, with 75 % possession and a pass accuracy of 91 % on 324 completions to 64 % on 81. The hosts have managed 24 touches in the opposing penalty area - the Serbs, just one.

Germany knew the circumstances that would happen with a defeat today, how it would put them at risk of relegation to League B - and so far, they have responded with a complete shutdown of their opposition.

19:47

Simo Frigolé

HT: GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

Said El Mala is in full uniform on the touchline, expected to come in for the first change from Jürgen Klopp tonight.

19:50

Simo Frigolé

HT: GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

The captain's armband appears to be going to Florian Wirtz, as El Mala makes his national team debut by replacing Serge Gnabry at LW within Jürgen Klopp's German 4-3-3. The Krefeld, Nordrhein-Westfalen native currently has a goal through three Bundesliga matches with 1. FC Köln in their 2026/27 Bundesliga campaign, after registering 13 in 34 last season.

19:51

Simo Frigolé

46': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

The second half is now underway. Germany, in white, restart play and will go right to left; Serbia, in blue, will go left to right when on the attack.

19:54

Simo Frigolé

49': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

El Mala plays the ball short to Treu on the right side of the Serbian third, close to the box. Instead of a cross, the SC Freiburg right-back goes direct for the top-right corner, but it does not test Petrović too much and he gets there in time to meet the ball with both hands.

19:58

Simo Frigolé

51': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

Bischof enters the box and lightly taps the ball short to Pavlović, who passes it back to him on the left side, close to the goal area. The latter stays at the same pace as Nedeljković, who tries to outmuscle him, but his tap towards the bottom-left corner is smothered by Petrović.

20:00

Simo Frigolé

53': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

Wirtz crosses the ball into the right side of the box, hoping to find Scherhant. The Freiburg striker attempts a volley towards the top-left corner, but his slide is timed a bit too early and he gets the wrong side of his foot on the ball to deflect it well into the crowd.

20:01

Simo Frigolé

56': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

El Mala takes on Nedeljković on the left side of the box and attempts to curl the ball bottom-right, but it takes a deflection off the Rangers FC centre-back and misses by a few metres. The following corner is cleared towards Scherhant, who takes a right-footed attempt off the left side netting.

20:04

Simo Frigolé

59': GERMANY 1-0 SERBIA

Woltemade passes to Treu at the edge of the box, who passes back. As Treu goes to the right side of the Serbian penalty area, Woltemade plays the ball inside the box to Scherhant - who then sends it back to Treu. Woltemade breaks free into open space in the centre of the goal area, but strikes the ball too hard on the goalmouth pass from Treu and blasts it over the bar.

20:07

Simo Frigolé

61': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR (F. Wirtz - assist: M. Mittelstädt)

Maximilian Mittelstädt progresses the ball forward in the centre of the Serbian third, and has two passing options inside the box: Nick Woltemade and Florian Wirtz. With Woltemade contained by Gudelj and Nedeljković, he plays it to Wirtz, who weaves his way around Eraković before tapping the ball bottom-right! Germany double the lead at the hour mark in München.

20:08

Simo Frigolé

63': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Just as Germany add to their goal differential, the Dutch also get one back in Thessaloniki. Virgil van Dijk, assisted by Joey Veerman, has the Oranje within one - 2-1 to Greece at the moment. Live table remains: Greece (9), Germany (4), Netherlands (4), Serbia (0). Germany has a +1 goal differential (3-2), the Dutch are at 0 (4-4).

20:11

Simo Frigolé

65': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

The Dutch have responded very fast with back-to-back goals in Thessaloniki. 2-2 and the Oranje thus reclaim second in the table with five points. Denzel Dumfries with the goal, unknown if there is an assist yet but if there is, this will be updated.

20:12

Simo Frigolé

67': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Update to the prior post: Dumfries' goal will not stand due to offside. It remains 2-1 to Greece; the hosts had a similar case where a goal was ruled out in the first half, and now it happens to the visitors.

20:15

Simo Frigolé

69': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Veljko Paunović has made four changes at once to give the Serbians a bit of life in this match. Strahinja Pavlović, Lazar Samardžić, Saša Lukić, and Mihajlo Cvetković all enter, with Strahinja Eraković, Dušan Tadić, Stefan Džodić, and Andrija Živković all departing. Serbia will switch from a flat 4-4-2 to a 5-4-1.

20:18

Simo Frigolé

72': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Gudelj tugs on the uniform of El Mala in a contest on the right side of the ground, and is the first name in Espen Eskås' book. Both sides have committed seven fouls, but that is the first disciplinary action from the Norwegian official tonight.

20:21

Simo Frigolé

75': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Now Germany will make a triple change: Tom Bischof, Derry Scherhant, and Nick Woltemade will depart, with Mika Baur, Bambasé Conté, and Jonathan Burkardt taking their places. This is the first senior international appearance for Baur, who was part of the SC Paderborn 07 squad that promoted to the Bundesliga before leaving for Celtic FC in the Scottish Premiership.

20:24

Simo Frigolé

78': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Maksimović goes into the book for a harsh sliding tackle to take down Mittelstädt, then another to bring down Pavlović just seconds later.

Jürgen Klopp has shifted the German formation from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2: Urbig - Mittelstädt, Thiaw, Anton, Treu - Conté, Baur, Pavlović, El Mala - Wirtz, Burkardt.

20:30

Simo Frigolé

82': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

On the right side of the Serbian penalty area, Bambasé Conté tries his best to get around Strahinja Pavlović after picking up the ball from Treu, but loses his footing just before the shot - which weakly makes its way into the hands of Petrović.

20:31

Simo Frigolé

85': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Mittelstädt has a go from distance with his right boot, but sends it well to the left of Petrović - who does not need to move too much.

20:34

Simo Frigolé

88': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Crvena zvezda attacking midfielder Vasilije Kostov makes his fourth senior international appearance, taking the place of Nemanja Maksimović at RCM within Veljko Paunović's 4-5-1.

At the same time, Jürgen Klopp makes a change to his 4-4-2, with Aleksandar Pavlović replaced by Vitaly Janelt at RCM.

20:35

Simo Frigolé

90': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

The Dutch have made it 2-2 - and this time, the goal will count, as the Oranje appear to have done just enough to move into second in the group. Tijjani Reijnders with the equaliser in Thessaloniki. Live table: Greece (7), Netherlands (5), Germany (4), Serbia (0).

20:36

Simo Frigolé

90+1': GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

2 minutes will be added to the 90 at Allianz Arena.

20:38

Simo Frigolé

FT: GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Jürgen Klopp registers his first win in his third match as coach of the German national team, as his side emerge 2-0 victors over Serbia in München. Tom Bischof with the opening goal in the fortieth minute, followed by Florian Wirtz in the sixty-first.

20:39

Simo Frigolé

FT: GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

Shots in the second half finished 16-1 to Germany, 3-1 on target. The hosts held 73 % possession, with 20 touches in the opposing penalty area compared to just two. Germany had a 92 % accuracy on 347 passes, compared to 76 % on 106 from Serbia.

20:40

Simo Frigolé

FT: GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA

And overall, Germany outshot Serbia 32-1, 8-1 on target with 74 % possession. Touches in the opposing penalty area finished 44-3 to the hosts. Pass accuracy: 91 % on 671 completions for Germany, 70 % on 187 for Serbia.

20:43

Simo Frigolé

FT: GERMANY 2-0 SERBIA
