In a recent report, The Sunday Times mentioned that Liverpool are in the race for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. It is believed that the Reds would have to rival Manchester United and Newcastle United in the race to land the English talent next year.

Anderson’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Anderson has enjoyed a good run of form at the Midlands club as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 23-year-old has scored one goal and picked up one assist in 15 matches for Nottingham Forest this season across all fronts.

The English sensation has anchored the midfield with conviction for the Midlands outfit and deserves credit for making 33 tackles, 20 blocks, 12 interceptions and 12 clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball well after completing 83.2% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the City Ground will expire in the summer of 2029. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Reds to snap him up on the cheap next year.

Will Anderson Be A Good Choice For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Anderson is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer as well.

The English sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. Anderson is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate as an attacking midfielder or as a left-winger if asked to do so. He has already proven himself in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Liverpool.

We can expect Anderson to bring more energy and dynamism to Arne Slot’s midfield. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Merseyside club in the coming years.

At 23, Anderson has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider this January or at the end of this campaign. He would even help the Merseyside giants challenge for some major honours over the next few years.
