In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Liverpool are ready to step up their efforts to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike this summer. It is understood that the Reds are eager to get a deal done for the French forward but are facing competition from Chelsea and Manchester United in pursuit of him this off-season.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign at the German club after he produced a series of impressive displays as the focal point of their attack. Ekitike banged in 22 goals and grabbed 12 assists in 48 matches for Eintracht Frankfurt last season across various competitions.

The French forward led the line for the German outfit as he averaged 4.0 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He kept 38.6% of his attempts on target. Ekitike was even tidy when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 75.5% in the top tier of German football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Eintracht Frankfurt will expire in the summer of 2029. Therefore, Liverpool have got no choice but to meet the German club’s demands if they want to lure Ekitike to Anfield in this summer transfer period.

Is Ekitike A Decent Fit For Liverpool?

Ekitike excels at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in on target. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area.

The French forward can use his 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He can contribute by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team up top.

We can expect Ekitike to bring more firepower to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s attack. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club next season.

Ekitike could also serve as an upgrade over Darwin Nunez, who has struggled to be consistent in the Premier League so far. At 23, he has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a great fit for the Merseyside club’s needs in the long run. However, he might need some time to adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League if Liverpool manage to snap him up in this transfer period.
