Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique is at the centre of controversy after appearing to strike Chelsea ace Joao Pedro following an ill-tempered conclusion to their FIFA Club World Cup clash.

PSG came into the game as heavy favourites but endured a first-half battering they could not recover from.

Chelsea spent much of the second half eating up time and frustrating their eager opponents.

Consequently, tempers started flaring, and PSG midfielder Joao Neves picked up a red card for a tug on Marc Cucurella’s infamous hair. Those two had been going at it all game.

Enrique was visibly frustrated as Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo escaped two situations where he might have received a second yellow card.

Upon the final whistle, Chelsea and PSG players clashed with Pedro at the centre.

The Brazilian could be seen pushing PSG players and Enrique back, but the Spanish tactician appeared to shove Pedro down with Gianluigi Donnarumma hulking over the striker.

His actions could be construed as violent conduct, and charges from FIFA might follow. Enrique did not cover himself in glory and faces the prospect of a lengthy ban and heavy punishment.

Enrique watched Chelsea tactically outclass his acclaimed UEFA Champions League winners.

Cole Palmer decimated Les Parisiens with two sublime goals and a sumptuous assist for Pedro in an unforgettable 3-0 win.

However, that was no excuse for what the PSG manager did. Enrique showed himself a sore loser of the highest order, lashing out when composure was needed most.

His failure to accept defeat with grace only amplified the humiliation. A manager of his stature should lead by example, not descend into petulant, disgraceful behaviour.

This act was not just a bad look. It crossed a line. Striking an opposition player is a serious offence, and Enrique should face the full wrath of the law from football authorities.
