Liverpool winger Luis Diaz remains FC Barcelona’s top target to strengthen the attacking unit ahead of next season.

The La Liga champions have been long-term admirers of the Colombian international and see him as their main objective for the summer transfer window.

In fact, in a recent interview on RAC1, Barça’s sporting director Deco admitted that the Liverpool winger is a player he likes, though he refrained from discussing a potential transfer in detail.

Arne Slot hits back

Speaking to the media earlier today, Liverpool manager Arne Slot addressed the comments made by Deco admitting his admiration for Diaz.

The Premier League-winning manager responded to the Barcelona director’s words with a hint of irony, as he said:

“Yes, every club has its own way of doing things. I think you are used to me not talking about players from other clubs that we haven’t signed.”

Continuing, he added: “He is a great player who is having a great season. If he just said it like that he might also be an admirer of Salah and Gakpo. Or didn’t he say that?”

He just said he admires some players. I admire Lamine Yamal and Raphinha,” Slot added, joking about Barça’s two superstars.

Barcelona have been monitoring Diaz for some time and have already been in contact with his camp to assess his willingness to join the club.

However, the feasibility of a move will depend entirely on the financial flexibility available to make such an investment.
