Mohamed Salah's exit was certainly the most high-profile of Liverpool's departures this summer.

The Egyptian King still had a year left on his contract but, after multiple fallings out with Arne Slot, he chose to call it quits and mutually agreed to terminate his deal with Liverpool.

Most people expected him to join a Saudi Pro League team but, in the end, he ended up making the switch to Trabzonspor.

On the face of things, this seemed like an extremely strange deal but, when you take into account how passionate their fanbase is and how well Salah can still perform, it's a match made in heaven.

However, for Liverpool, it left them in a bit of a pickle. Most fans expected them to sign a new right-winger and, while they did bring Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz through the Anfield doors, neither of them are natural right-wingers.

This means that, until January at the earliest, Liverpool will always have one of their attackers out of position, which, for a team chasing the Premier League title, is far from ideal.

So, that's why it's good news that the Reds' perfect successor for Salah now wants to join them.

Yankuba Minteh still wants to join Liverpool after the interest they showed in him

Yankuba Minteh was the most likely player for Liverpool to replace Mohamed Salah with.

The Egyptian King was the Reds' out-and-out right-winger and, while Federico Chiesa can play there if needed, it's clear that he's not really a part of Andoni Iraola's plans at the moment.

If it wasn't for Minteh's injury, he'd probably be a Liverpool player right now, even though he would've cost Liverpool an awful lot of money to buy.

Indeed, the Reds' interest may have been dropped now but, by the time January comes around, the Gambian could be up for grabs again.

And, after what Gambian journalist Baboucarr Fallaboweh has said about Minteh's plans to Sports Witness, it certainly feels like a Liverpool move could be in his future.

"I think Liverpool. He will still want to go to Liverpool. Depending on [how] Liverpool will activate that desire to still have him,” he said.

"Because right now, his situation has not been helped because he is injured. If not, then you could have more justification for him to showcase his performance why Liverpool were after him.”

"But at the overall situation, even if he moves, I don’t think he will move outside the Premier League. Manchester United can come banging on their doors.”

"It’s a big win for him to be associated with Liverpool. So, it gives other big European clubs around the world to take a closer look at him now that they know Brighton’s actual price. So, it will be easier for them to explore it."

Liverpool should only sign Yankuba Minteh if he's available for the right price

Since Liverpool are in desperate need of a right-winger, clubs are obviously going to charge extortionate amounts for their players.

That's why Crystal Palace and Brighton both wanted over £80 million for Minteh and Ismaila Sarr.

Obviously, these amounts are way over the market values for both players with Palace's demands for Sarr being rather shocking.

But, looking back at it all, it's probably a good job that neither of them were signed this summer.

Sarr has never scored more than nine Premier League goals in a season and, even though Minteh is still young, it's unclear how good he's going to be upon his return from injury.

Replacing Salah was obviously never going to be an easy task but, by January, Liverpool will have gone half a season without a natural right-winger which will give them a proper insight into how their season is going to pan out.

Minteh could still end up being an option for Liverpool to explore but, Iraola should only move forward with the deal if the price is right.
