Liverpool Confirmed XI & Team News vs Nottingham Forest

Liverpool return to Anfield for the first time in the 2026-27 season as they host Oliver Glasner’s Nottingham Forest.

Forest have beaten Liverpool at Anfield on their last two visits, and their new head coach Glasner also beat the Reds twice last season during his time at Crystal Palace.

However, Liverpool fans will be hoping for a positive start to the season as the Kop welcomes Andoni Iraola for the first time.

In defence, Joe Gomez misses out again as he continues his recovery from a hamstring issue suffered in pre-season. Both Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are also absent with long-term issues.

The same applies to Hugo Ekitike, who is expected to be sidelined until after Christmas with an achilles injury.

Federico Chiesa remains a doubt after missing last week’s 2-2 draw at Newcastle United. But will still face massive competition to make it into the matchday squad.

Harvey Elliott will not be in the matchday squad as he moves closer to an exit.
