Liverpool are up to fourth in the Premier League after a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield.
The Reds had not won against the Eagles in their last four meetings but always looked like the better side here.
The home side were awarded a penalty midway through the first half when Mohamed Salah went down under the challenge of Brennan Johnson with Andy Madley pointing to the spot. However, the referee was sent to the monitor and reversed his decision after seeing Johnson win the ball.
That didn't matter much though as Liverpool were ahead in the 35th minute when Alexander Isak controlled Alexis Mac Allister's shot, turned, and hit the ball into the ground with it then looping beyond Dean Henderson.
That lead was doubled five minutes later as the Reds countered following a Palace corner. Curtis Jones this time threading a ball through for the surging Andy Robertson who then tucked it into the corner.
Liverpool's second was always going to be difficult for Palace to come back from but they did reduce the deficit in the second half through a strange goal.
With 70 minutes gone, the Eagles were attacking when Freddie Woodman went down with an injury allowing Daniel Muñoz to put the ball into an empty net from distance. It was a strange moment but fortunately for Arne Slot, Woodman was able to continue with U21s goalkeeper Amin Pécsi the only other alternative.
The visitors were hoping to find an equaliser but the Reds wrapped up the game in stoppage time when Joe Gomez's throw into the box was touched down by Mac Allister for Florian Wirtz to run on to and finish.
