Liverpool defender Grace Fisk has withdrawn from the England squad after suffering an injury in training.
Grace Fisk was forced to pull out of the Lionesses squad after suffering a small calf injury.
England boss Sarina Wiegman said: “She (Fisk) was really enjoying the step-up, and unfortunately, she has picked up this small injury.
“That is disappointing for her, but that’s the way it is. I think it’s good that she went through the whole week and she had that opportunity atleast.
“I just hope she gets fit really quickly and is available for Liverpool soon.”
England have already suffered injuries to a number of defenders since Euro 2025. Leah Williamson has not played since the Euro 2025 final against Spain, while Katie Reid suffered an ACL injury.
The 27-year-old had hoped to make her England debut in Tuesday’s friendly against Ghana in Southampton.
However, she will have to wait longer to get her opportunity, which will be a blow for Fisk as England head coach Sarina Wiegman revealed she would make some changes to the side that beat China 8-0 on Saturday.
Despite Liverpool’s struggles this season, Fisk has impressed since being named as captain before the start of the campaign.
There are still several England players who could make their debuts for the Lionesses on Tuesday.
That includes London City Lionesses star Freya Godfrey and West Ham defender Anouk Denton.
Liverpool have just two points on the board in the Women’s Super League this season, and some of that could be blamed on the injury problems they have suffered
Fisk is the latest Liverpool player to suffer an injury, but Gareth Taylor will be hoping the defender will be back fit for their WSL clash with Arsenal on December 6th.
Liverpool’s main issues have come higher up the field, though, with Sophie Roman Haug suffering an ACL injury, just days after Marie Hobinger suffered the same injury.
Beata Olsson has impressed in recent games, but the Reds could still look to dip their toes into the transfer market in January.
Steph Houghton has urged Liverpool to spend the Olivia Smith money on new signings in January. Liverpool sold Canadian international Smith to Arsenal for £1 million during the summer transfer window.
Liverpool face Arsenal, Aston Villa and West Ham in the WSL, as well as Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, before the winter break.
