Because Isak is clearly a world-class striker. He was arguably the best in the Premier League last season, scoring all kinds of goals as he bagged 23. He had 21 the year before that.

So there can't be any question that Liverpool were buying an elite player and he is absolutely what the team needed to improve. If he was at his best.

But there was essentially zero chance that Isak would be at his best. The Swede didn't have a pre-season, instead deciding to go on strike at Newcastle United in order to force his transfer.
