That's all from us for today. Thanks for tuning in for another incredible afternoon of Premier League action!

Dominik Szoboszlai has been speaking to Sky Sports after the game:

OneFootball Videos

"It's always a tough place to come, especially for the first game of the season when you're heading to Newcastle - everyone knows that. The fans are incredible, they've got a great squad, and a good manager - he's new, sure, but he's already proven himself at plenty of clubs. We came prepared, too. Under the new manager, we need to stick even closer together and really read what's happening on the pitch. But coming back from 2-1 down to salvage a point is a great step forward, and now we focus on getting ready for next week."

The Premier League has given its official reason for the penalty call

It's been one hell of an opening week for the Premier League. Nothing quite like it, is there?

FULL TIME

For a third season running, it's late drama at St James' Park between these sides. Newcastle arguably deserved it more but Hall's moment of madness tipped the balance.

GOAL! NEWCASTLE 2-2 LIVERPOOL

Right at the death, Szoboszlai snatches a point for the visitors with a clinical kick into the top corner

Szoboszlai will take the penalty for Liverpool. The entire game comes down to this moment.

PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL!

There might be one last twist! Hall takes down Munoz in the area. It's as stonewall as they come.

We've entered five minutes of added time. Will there be more twists in this one?

CHANCE!

Newcastle looking to wrap things up with another counterattack that sees Wissa lay siege to Alisson's goal but the Brazilian does well to thwart him

CHANCE!

Willock floats a cross in from the right that Alisson punches clear but only as far as Ramsey, who drags his effort wide

GOAL! NEWCASTLE 2-1 LIVERPOOL

Newcastle are back ahead! Another superb counterattack sees Willock fire into the Gallowgate End after shaking off Frimpong

GOAL! NEWCASTLE 1-1 LIVERPOOL

Second time's a charm for Gakpo! The Netherlands international pulls the trigger and sends a right-footed effort into the bottom corner of Horníček's net

CHANCE!

Gakpo lets fly from the edge of the area but his effort is off target

CHANCE!

Horníček produces a vital block to deny Liverpool at a corner amid a goalmouth scramble

SECOND HALF

Who's emerging as the winner from this one?

HALF TIME

The Magpies head in at the break with the lead and deservedly so. They've kept Liverpool at bay incredibly well so far. Plenty of work for Andoni Iraola to do with his team before the second half.

CHANCE!

Alisson has to stand tall to deny Osula as he bore down on goal.

CHANCE!

Kerkez sends a cross in which is only blocked in the box, allowing Wirtz to take aim at goal but Horníček is equal to it.

The bad news just keeps on coming for the Reds

GOAL! NEWCASTLE 1-0 LIVERPOOL

What a start for the hosts! Elanga rolls home the opener past Alisson after Osula tees him up on a counterattack

KICK OFF

Boos ring out at Isak gets the game underway

Emotional scenes ahead of kick-off as both clubs remember the legendary Kevin Keegan following his untimely passing earlier this summer

Next up, we head to the North East for the final game of the day.

This is how both teams will be lining up in the St James' Park showdown:

FULL TIME

It's all over at the Etihad and the Amex, where the hosts rack up memorable wins for different reasons.

GOAL! MAN CITY 2-1 BOURNEMOUTH

The comeback is complete! Gvardiol's low finish was initially disallowed for offside but a VAR review confirmed that the City man was on before pulling the trigger

GOAL! MAN CITY 1-1 BOURNEMOUTH

We're all square at the Ethiad! Guéhi makes up for his earlier miss by heading home unmarked from Cherki's corner. The ball takes a slightly deflection off Truffert on its way into the net but the City man will definitely be claiming it still.

CHANCE! Man City 0-1 Bournemouth

At the other end, Jebbison produces a really good header which Donnarumma can only push out for a corner.

CHANCE! Man City 0-1 Bournemouth

Guéhi fires a cross in at the byline which Haaland has a job connecting cleanly with but Petrović keeps it out

CHANCE! Man City 0-1 Bournemouth

Haaland tries to engineer a leveller but he's crowded out in the box. Bournemouth's defensive setup is still holding incredibly firm but how long for?

CHANCE! Man City 0-1 Bournemouth

A bit more purposeful from City at the moment as Semenyo goes close but is still denied by Petrović

CHANCE! Man City 0-1 Bournemouth

City should really be level as Petrović is caught in No Man's Land from a corner but Guéhi somehow puts the header wide

SECOND HALF

Will we see more drama in the next 45 minutes?

Not a great start for City's new midfield maestro but he isn't the only one

HALF TIME

Boos ring out at the Etihad while things are a lot brighter for the home side on the south coast. Two entirely unpredictable first halves. It's so good to have the Premier League back!

CHANCE! Man City 0-1 Bournemouth

It's becoming child's play for Bournemouth as Kluivert fires a low effort from the left side of the box which Donnarumma punches it clear to take the ball away from a lurking Evanilson

CHANCE! Man City 0-1 Bournemouth

Back come the visitors with Tavernier given the freedom to fire a long-range effort that flies just past Donnarumma's righthand post. City finding themselves on the back foot again

CHANCE! Man City 0-1 Bournemouth

A bit more like it from City as Haaland's flick-on header goes close but Petrović is able to palm it away

RED CARD! BRIGHTON 4-0 ASTON VILLA

João Gomes' Villa debut was already a rough one but he will play no further part in it after a straight sending off. Unai Emery hugs the player as he heads down the tunnel

GOAL! BRIGHTON 4-0 ASTON VILLA

What is going on at the Amex!? Hinshelwood at the double for Brighton

GOAL! BRIGHTON 3-0 ASTON VILLA

And there's another on the south coast! Hinshelwood makes it a third for the Seagulls

GOAL! MAN CITY 0-1 BOURNEMOUTH

The visitors lead at the Etihad! Tavernier produces a clinical finish to give the Cherries their first-ever advantage at City's home

GOAL! BRIGHTON 2-0 ASTON VILLA

Things are going from bad to worse for Unai Emery's men as De Cuyper piles on the misery with a tap-in

CHANCE! Man City 0-0 Bournemouth

Back at the Etihad, the hoss should really be ahead after O'Reilly produces a really good run and cross down the left for Haaland in the box but he completely misjudges the angle

GOAL! BRIGHTON 1-0 ASTON VILLA

The afternoon's first goal comes at the Amex where the hosts are ahead from a defensive mix-up that sees Victor Lindelöf turn the ball into his own net.

CHANCE! Man City 0-0 Bournemouth

A lovely move from the hosts sees Foden play a clever backheel to Lewis, who tries to beat Petrović at his near post but the keeper narrows the angle well.

KICK OFF

We're underway in the afternoon's first two games!

Enzo Maresca's line-up choices aren't the only things raising eyebrows for City as Erling Haaland has unveiled a bold new look ahead of kick-off.

Savinho is a notable absentee from the hosts' matchday squad at the Etihad Stadium but curiously Omar Marmoush does make the bench despite also being in line for a move to Tottenham.

Team news for both matches have dropped and this is how the respective line-ups are looking:

BRIGHTON V ASTON VILLA

MAN CITY V BOURNEMOUTH

First up, it's the meetings of new and old managers with Manchester City and Bournemouth set to make their first forays under Enzo Maresca and Marco Rose while, on the south coast, Brighton and Aston Villa line up as you were in the dugout.
