Manchester United’s arch rivals Liverpool have dropped out of the race for LOSC Lille centre back Leny Yoro.

The Red Devils are currently negotiating with several centre back options, including Matthijs de Ligt at Bayern Munich and they have also had two bids knocked back for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

There was even a surprise link to Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah yesterday.

Nonetheless, the name on the media’s lips right now is that of Leny Yoro as United have had a bid accepted by the French side and were reported to be in negotiations with the 18 year old over personal terms.

The problem for United is that it has been public knowledge for a long time that Real Madrid are the preferred choice of the defender. However, Yoro is said to softening his stance on a move to Manchester.

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool were also said to be interested in the centre back but the French club reportedly dropped out of the race for him a few days ago.

Football Insider reports that the Merseysiders have also waved the white flag in the pursuit of the supremely talented defender.

Sources have told the website that “Liverpool have pulled the plug on their interest in Leny Yoro”.

“The Premier League giants had shortlisted the Lille centre-back as a key target but their stance has changed after learning the player wants to join Real Madrid.”

It was reported about a month ago that Liverpool had made a bid for the Lille defender but that it was rejected.

It was relayed here last night that Madrid would make another bid to try to wrestle their way back into pole position for the defender but it is yet to be seen whether they will get anywhere near the €62 million United have put on the table.

The Red Devils will surely try and get a definitive answer one way or another from Yoro in the coming days as they will desperately want to make progress in other deals, with the new Premier League season now only a month away.
