Liverpool have shared fresh images from training at the AXA Centre ahead of Sunday’s Premier League trip to Manchester City and one sight in particular will have every fan smiling.

The photos, shared via Liverpoolfc.com, showed Alexander Isak back in full training with the group after three weeks out through injury.

The Swede was pictured both in the gym and on the grass, looking sharp and clearly delighted to be back with his teammates. For supporters, it’s a huge boost.

Our record signing has endured a stop-start beginning to life at Anfield – eight appearances, one goal (against Southampton in the Carabao Cup) and one assist (versus Chelsea in the league).

But his return comes at the perfect time as we look to extend our winning run to three in all competitions.

Isak’s joy at being back was clear from the club’s photos, with the 26-year-old seen smiling throughout the session.

It’s exactly the kind of lift the group needs before the weekend.

Arne Slot had already confirmed the forward would be back training, in his pre-match press conference.

As the manager explained, “He will train for the first time today with the team again after being three weeks out… give him some time.”

A major boost before Manchester City

Even if he’s not quite at full sharpness, having our new No.9 back in contention changes the mood entirely.

After all, when a player of his ability is fit, opponents take notice.

The pressure has been growing on the Swede after a slow start, with Ian Wright admitted he “has to do well because the guy who’s playing [Ekitike] is actually doing it”.

Roy Keane, however, remained confident: “I still think he’ll come good for them.”

Now, back in training and smiling again, it finally feels like that moment is coming.

For all the data and tactics, sometimes it’s as simple as seeing a happy, confident striker back where he belongs – with us, in red, ready to make a difference.
