One forward at Liverpool is reportedly on the brink of securing a move away from Anfield and could make his debut for his impending new club as soon as Thursday night.
With Andoni Iraola deprived of numerous first-team regulars at the start of pre-season due to their post-World Cup holidays, Kieran Morrison was among the Reds youngsters to take advantage, scoring in the 4-2 win over Sunderland in Nashville last month.
The 19-year-old – who signed a new contract in L4 at the start of the summer – had been linked with a potential loan exit to Eredivisie side Groningen a couple of weeks ago, but he now looks set to remain in England for the 2026/27 campaign.
As reported by James Pearce on X, the Liverpool winger is ‘set to go ahead’ with a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday and, should the deal go through in the next 24 hours, he could even make his debut for the Owls when they host Bradford in League One on Thursday night.
The Northern Ireland international played just 24 minutes for a ‘second string’ Reds side in the 0-0 draw against Como at the AXA Training Centre on Sunday and wasn’t involved in either of the two friendlies at Anfield over the past fortnight.

We’re a bit surprised that Morrison is going to League One rather than the Championship, but if joining Sheffield Wednesday means that he’ll be playing regular first-team football this season, then we’re all for it.
The Hillsborough club have enjoyed a good start to their campaign, winning their first league fixture at Leyton Orient and knocking Bolton out of the Carabao Cup; and new life has been breathed into the Yorkshire outfit by the takeover from Arise Capital Partners, thus ending the destructive reign of the despised Dejphon Chansiri.
It certainly seems to be a good time to join the Owls, and the impending loan capture of a player who lined out for Liverpool in pre-season represents a magnificent coup for Henrik Pedersen’s team as they target an immediate promotion back to the second tier.
Morrison has a role model at Anfield to try and emulate – four years ago, Conor Bradley used a loan move to Bolton (then of League One) as a springboard to breaking into the Reds’ first-team squad on a fixed basis.
Hopefully the 19-year-old can follow in the footsteps of his club and international teammate in that regard, and assuming there are no late hitches with the proposed deal with Sheffield Wednesday, we wish him every success with his move to Hillsborough.
