Liverpool have been told the price. Now a blockbuster deal can move forward for one of the biggest talents in world football.

Liverpool want to sign wonderkids. That's unbelievably clear to everyone watching as the Reds have moved to snap up some of the best young talents in world football over the past couple of years.

They've even signed some in advance, with three teenagers already locked in to sign next year. And that follows a series of signings in 2026 that were incredibly future-proofed.

But there's risk involved. Players don't just naturally improve and remarkably few fulfil their potential, especially at the absolute highest level. It creates an environment where a scatter gun approach typically works best - sign loads of talented young players and a couple will become stars.

That's theory, anyway, and it's one Liverpool adhere to.

Liverpool in for Gilberto Mora

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Gilberto Mora since the start of the summer. The teenager was one of the youngest at the World Cup and became the youngest since Pele to start a World Cup knockout match.

He's the future of Mexican football, in other words, and the hype around him continues to grow at a rapid pace. His goal this week - a first for Mexico - was fantastic and underlined just what a talent he is at just 17.

Now Football Insider reports that interest in Mora is developing rapidly. Liverpool are in the queue for him and it's thought that Tijuana would want around £40m in order to sell the playmaker.

The report correctly points out that Mora is unable to move until he turns 18 later this month - so January could see the free-for-all to grab him. Liverpool will push but they'll be far from the only ones.

But if the Reds truly want the best wonderkids on the planet, Mora is the kind you push hard for. £40m probably is the going rate for an international 17-year-old as he's already proving himself at the senior level and likely boasts a better chance than most at fulfilling that potential because of it.

Expect this one to rumble on, then. Mora is a real talent - and potentially a future Red.
