Liverpool handed another injury worry | OneFootball

Liverpool have been handed another injury concern after Cody Gakpo was forced off with an ankle problem during the Netherlands’ win over Serbia on Sunday.

The forward started in Belgrade but played just 17 minutes after being caught by a heavy challenge from Sasa Lukic.

Gakpo is now expected to undergo scans on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

Netherlands boss Xavi played down initial fears after the game but admitted he did not yet know how serious the problem was.

“I don’t think so,” Xavi said when asked whether the injury looked serious.

“It’s his ankle, that’s all I know. Tomorrow we will know, but hopefully it’s not too important.”

It comes after Liverpool team-mate Alexander Isak also suffered an injury worry while on international duty, with the striker returning to his club early.
