Liverpool head coach Gareth Taylor is hopeful that Ceri Holland will be involved in this weekend’s Women’s Super League match against West Ham United.
In his column shared on the club website, Taylor said that the international break had given the staff the chance to help some players towards match fitness.
He wrote: “It is quite a difficult part of the season we are in now because players have endured a long season with club and country that can be quite demanding both physically and mentally.
“So, between now and the end of the season we will be short and precise and keep players fresh, which is really important.
“The work we have done with the players who didn’t go on international duty has been really good.
“It has allowed us to get Ceri Holland up to a level where she can hopefully be capable of participating in our game on Sunday against West Ham.”
The Wales international missed out on her nation’s Women’s World Cup qualifiers earlier this month after withdrawing from the squad.
She was also not part of Liverpool’s Women’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Charlton Athletic.
Liverpool now sit tenth in the WSL table, four points ahead of Sunday’s opponents West Ham.
And with three games to go in the league – plus an FA Cup semi-final against Brighton and Hove Albion – Taylor is keen to finish the season on a high.
“On Sunday we host West Ham at St Helens Stadium and I see it as a good opportunity to continue our good form at home.
“It has been a real fortress for us in 2026. Our supporters have played a huge part in that and there is a real connection on what’s going on on the pitch, as well as off it.
“We are in a good moment having pulled clear of the relegation zone and our focus now is looking upwards and trying to climb the league as much as we can.”
