Liverpool and Manchester City went into the break at Anfield level but it's safe to say Pep Guardiola's men had the better of the opening 45 minutes.
City dominated possession for large parts, particularly in the first 20 minutes, and created numerous openings albeit not enough clear-cut chances.
In fact, they had a record number of shots against the Reds since records like this began to be counted.
Fortunately for Arne Slot's sake, not enough fell to Erling Haaland with his effort in just the second minute the best chance of the game so far.
For a ground they so often struggle on, City might end up regretting not taking their chance when they had it.
Will Liverpool ensure they do?
