Liverpool made wholesale changes to their front line last summer, but there's scope for more.
A fee of around £130m was agreed to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle, while £79m was agreed in principle to sign Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt as well. Given most of the big names were unavailable during that window, the Reds were been able to secure two huge scalps for not unrealistic fees.
Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz both departed the club, bringing in around £120m combined, if the add-ons agreed during the negotiations are triggered. As such, the £90m spent on upgrades doesn't feel quite as bad as the headlines suggested. Plus, what's arguably more worthwhile to focus on is the fact that big-name players felt their futures were best spent on Merseyside. The ambition is massive.
As such, knowing that the club can attract whoever they want, and since there is still room for improvement in the Reds' attack, players are still being sounded out in case an opportunity arises.
Even though Cody Gakpo has signed a new deal with the club, his understudy in Rio Ngumoha is still very young and so while he's highly-valued by the club and Arne Slot, he might not be ready to play quite as much first-team football as you might expect. He still needs time to grow and develop.

Furthermore, Mohamed Salah is getting older and his current deal is only until 2027, while Federico Chiesa is constantly battling for minutes and is struggling to get opportunities in the side, despite his impressive record so far this season. There is undoubtably room for someone else to come in.
That new recruit could be Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa, who is 'emerging as one of the standout names of the upcoming winter transfer window', according to a new report from Caught Offside.
Per their intel, an £80m asking price has been set and while Chelsea are seen as the frontrunners on this one, there is scope for other clubs to swoop in, with Paris Saint Germain, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham all interested, alongside the Reds who are 'keeping a close eye on the situation'.
In spite of his slow start this season, the Englishman has featured regularly for his country, playing in the coveted No. 10 role - although he's also comfortable playing as both a left and right-winger. It's this malleability that makes him so impressive. Liverpool could utilise his talents in a number of ways.
Furthermore, he's Premier League proven and at just 23 years old, he still has bags of potential for Arne Slot to unearth. His 14 goals and 13 assists last season can easily become common-practice.
At £80m, you would assume a lot of due-diligence would need to be completed ahead of a potential summer move, given it's Liverpool's defence which requires immediate attention, rather than the attack, although the club would surely consider all eventualities if Rogers prefers a January move.
For now, this is one to keep an eye on. He's a phenomenal talent and signing him would be a big scalp for the club to boast, although it's unlikely that we'll see any immediate developments on him.
