Liverpool hope to complete a deal for one of the Premier League’s brightest talents. It won’t be easy, though.
An unprecedented summer of spending was not the end for Liverpool. The Reds still have work to do if they're to overhaul this squad in a way they're happy with.
We know that as a fact, really, because Liverpool tried to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. It's a deal that went to the wire, with everything sorted except the final 'yes' from the Eagles.
They decided to say no at the last minute, ending Liverpool's hopes. They certainly remain interested in the centre-back, though, and might be able to make something happen in 2026.

But Guehi isn't the only name on their list. Especially because Liverpool haven't actually touched the midfield under Arne Slot, even if they tried to with Martin Zubimendi.
They'll still want to bring in at least one midfielder for the Dutchman. And it appears they have a name in mind.
Liverpool are still very much looking into a move for Adam Wharton, reports the Daily Mail. They claim Palace hope to tie him down with a new contract, making it more difficult for the likes of the Reds to sign him.
Or at least, make it more expensive. The plan is to bump Wharton's wage but also include a release clause - an admittance that the player will eventually move on.
