Liverpool move ahead of Everton after win at Anfield | OneFootball

Liverpool were triumphant over Everton at Anfield in the first Merseyside derby of the 2026/27 WSL campaign.

The home side were ahead inside the first four minutes of the game when a corner was sent in with Beata Olsson beating Hannah Blundell to the ball and heading past goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan.

After that rapid start, Gareth Taylor's team were in control even if Hannah Cain went close for the Toffees.

The visitors did improve after the break but it was Liverpool who still looked most likely to score. Vivien Endemann hit the bar while Cornelia Kapocs had an effort cleared off the line by Ruby Mace.

However, Kapocs did eventually find the net to wrap up the win with just four minutes left in the game. That win means Liverpool are now up to seven points, moving them up to fifth in the WSL – one place ahead of Everton.

Elsewhere in the WSL, Manchester United defeated West Ham United in the earlier kick off while Tottenham Hotspur put four past Aston Villa and Birmingham City played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace.
