Liverpool one step closer to Bradley Barcola deal as final £100m price confirmed

Liverpool’s long-standing transfer priority for this window has been adding one-v-one quality out wide in attack.

Mohamed Salah leaving the club on a free transfer has blown a hole in the attack - and even so - extra wingers were required before that.

Sporting director Richard Hughes managed to get a deal for Victor Munoz over the line - paying £34m to Osasuna for the Spain FIFA World Cup winner. But other targets are being chased - including Endrick, Ibrahim Mbaye and Yankuba Minteh.

Bradley Barcola is Liverpool's No1 winger target

The one who loomed into focus following the failure to land Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig however is Bradley Barcola.

It would appear Paris Saint-Germain are resigned to losing the France international during the current transfer period - with the 23-year-old’s contract expiring in 2028.

With no chance of a new deal the two-time European champions have to cash in - although their valuation of Barcola up to now has been a sticking point.

PSG were believed to be holding out for £145m before letting Barcola go - having spent heavily on Mika Godts, Maghnes Akliouche and Ferran Torres.

PSG have slashed Barcola asking price

There may now be a thaw in that stance however with trusted French reporter Fabrice Hawkins spelling out how Liverpool may now get a discount on Barcola.

Instead of paying £145m for their No1 winger target they could get him for as little as €120m - which is a touch over £100m. All signs are now pointing towards Barcola joining Liverpool - with the transfer deadline coming on September 1.

Barcola will come for just over £100m

“Bradley Barcola wants to join Liverpool,” Hawkins told the After Foot podcast.

“PSG were informed earlier of his desire, and it was accepted. There’s no intention to keep Bradley Barcola.

“The sticking point has been the valuation, where they started at €170m.

“Liverpool have made different verbal offers. They’ve made offers since the verbal one, but there hasn’t been a written offer yet because, at this level, I think the next written offer will be the one that gets it done.

“We’ve understood that it would be somewhere between €130m and €150m, but in any case, it won’t be below €120m for Bradley Barcola. Everyone involved in this deal thinks there will be an agreement.”

Barcola coming to Anfield would still leave space in the attack for a first-choice right-wing option. He prefers to play from the left - just like Victor Munoz, Rio Ngumoha and Cody Gakpo.
