Liverpool reject £80m Man City bid for Cody Gakpo

Liverpool had reportedly turned down an £80 million package offer from Manchester City for Cody Gakpo.

The Citizens were keen to bring in the winger and had offered an initial £75 million for the player with the potential of a further £5 million in add-ons.

However, according to journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Reds have rejected that offer even with the arrival of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain today.

Gakpo had been keen on a move to City after having previously had interest from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 27-year-old has started both of Liverpool's opening Premier League games under Andoni Iraola so far this season, scoring a spectacular goal against Newcastle United and making an assist against Nottingham Forest.
