's time with Liverpool has been a tad indifferent.

When the midfielder was first welcomed to Anfield last summer, most fans expected him to be their main creative outlet.

However, despite being used as a left winger, a number 10 and a striker, Arne Slot simply couldn't get the best out of him.

This is likely one of the main reasons why the Dutchman was sacked as, if he can't get his players performing well, then there's likely to be no hope for them and the club in the future.

Despite his underperformance, Andoni Iraola has made Wirtz a key cog in Liverpool's system but, every player has a price and Liverpool now seem to have shared what it would take for the German to be allowed to exit Anfield.

When playing for Bayer Leverkusen, it was clear that Wirtz could end up being the next big thing.

He was key to Xabi Alonso's plans with his creativity, and keen eye for goal, two of the main things that he had going for him.

But, since joining Liverpool, Wirtz seems to have lost his spark which has led to questions being asked about his future.

In fact, clubs such as Chelsea and Bayern Munich have even been linked with a move for the number 10 over the last year or so.

And now, thanks to an update from TEAMtalk, it has been revealed what it would take for Liverpool to admit defeat and move the 23-year-old on.

"Sources close to the club insist the hierarchy still believe the 23-year-old is more than capable of recapturing the sparkling displays that made him a standout performer at Bayer Leverkusen," they wrote.

"The Bavarians have sounded out the player’s representatives in recent weeks, though any approach would face a significant obstacle: Liverpool would demand at least a profit on the fee paid to secure him.

"For the time being, Wirtz remains very much part of the Liverpool plans."

On paper, Liverpool have one of the best attacking line-ups in the world.

Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Barcola and Hugo Ekitike are just some of the players that Iraola has at his disposal.

And, even others such as Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szobozlai and Rio Ngumoha can all be counted on if needed.

With an attack like that, you'd not expect Liverpool to be struggling as much as they are but, since some such as Wirtz are really in the best run of form, they've under-delivered.

If Wirtz can get back to his best and is allowed to actually attack rather than cover for his two holding midfielders, it genuinely feels like Liverpool could easily have one of the world's best attackers at their disposal.

He's young, versatile and, since he's already had a season in the Premier League, he's probably finally starting to get used to it.

At the moment, it's anyone's guess what could happen but, if he doesn't start performing well soon, both Wirtz and Liverpool could end up in some serious trouble.
