According to a report in the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen had been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Eriksen has consistently been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and Europe over the last couple of seasons and is now on the final year of his contract and will be available on a free in next summer with no indication of signing a new contract.
Eriksen has many facets to his game. He is a great threat from set-pieces and loves to hover around in that hybrid number 10 and number 8 role, which has become common now in an attacking 4-3-3 system.
Liverpool usually play a 4-3-3 system as well but do occasionally move to a 4-2-3-1 system in home games and Eriksen would fit into both roles perfectly.
Liverpool have a great first-team and squad but they’ve been unable to break teams down, which was evident in some of the games in the second half of the season.
Naby Keita was bought from RB Leipzig after impressing for many years in the Bundesliga but hasn’t had quite the impact at Liverpool but could make an impact next season.
Eriksen is Premier League proven and Liverpool’s most important target next season will be the Premier League title.
It is well known that Jurgen Klopp has one of the best pressing teams in Europe and this should not be a problem for Eriksen, who often racks up a lot of distance in most games and makes a lot of sprints throughout the game
Liverpool also switched their style a little to a more possession-based system without losing their high-intensity style and getting Eriksen over the line could be the missing piece.
With Manchester City not looking any less likely to stop their domination, it’s important Liverpool continue to match them on and off the pitch

It’s important that Jurgen Klopp keeps hold of most of his team and make a few tweaks in a few areas to continue being a consistent force in Europe and domestically.
Liverpool will also be hoping they can add a few other trophies to their cabinet.
There is no room for complacency in the Premier League and Liverpool have had to wait a long time to make it this far. They’ll want to continue this period for as long as they can and Eriksen’s purchase will help with that.
