Liverpool Risk Losing Control Of Jarell Quansah, Arsenal In Talks | OneFootball

Arsenal are in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for ex-Liverpool star Jarell Quansah, whom the Reds have a buy-back clause on, according to journalist Rob Dorsett.

The Gunners will not have their star centre-back William Saliba available for at least a few months and they want to make sure they have enough cover there.

Cristhian Mosquera is highly rated at the Emirates, while the likes of Ben White and Jurrien Timber can also do a job as a centre-back, but they are looking for someone with a proven track record in that position.

Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa is one of their top targets, but Unai Emery’s side are not willing to play ball at Arsenal’s valuation.

John Stones was also on their radar after he left Manchester City, but he has joined Inter Milan, and the north Londoners are keen on another England defender.

It has been suggested that they are willing to bring in 23-year-old Quansah from Bayer Leverkusen, and they are in talks with the Bundesliga side.

Liverpool had a buy-back clause for him this summer, which they did not take up, but they will have another opportunity to activate the buy-back clause for less money next summer.

However, Arsenal are trying to snap up Quansah this summer, as they are trying to convince Bayer Leverkusen to sell the Englishman.

Bayer Leverkusen, though, want significantly more than the £30m they paid Liverpool last summer.

Quansah’s contract runs for four more years at the BayArena and Die Werkself have no intention of selling him.

The English champions bought Piero Hincapie from them last summer, making his signing permanent this year, and he has been a big hit at the Gunners.

Quansah played in the World Cup for the Three Lions, and could be tempted to make a move to the Emirates before the window ends.

Liverpool could then be left with a big choice of whether to go into the race and battle Arsenal, or see Quansah slip away to the Emirates.

The Reds wanted to keep control of the defender by including buy-back clauses in the agreement with Bayer Leverkusen and now risk losing Quansah.
